Ullman, who has written two other books about homeopathic remedies ( Discovering Homeopathy , North Atlantic Bks., 1991. rev. ed.; Homeopathy: Medicine for the 21st Century , LJ 2/1/88), explains the system's principles, tells how to assess a child's symptoms, and lists some 78 childhood disorders along with their homeopathic remedies and a list of homeopathic manufacturers. This clearly written and well-organized work is recommended for libraries that collect in alternative medicine.

About the Author
Dana Ullman, M.P.H. (Masters in Public Health, U.C. Berkeley), is one of America's leading spokespersons for homeopathic medicine. He has authored five books including, Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicine (with Stephen Cummings, MD), Homeopathic Medicines for Children and Infants, The One-Minute (or so) Healer, and Discovering Homeopathy. His writings have also appeared in The Western Journal of Medicine, Social Policy, Utne Reader, The Futurist, and The Reader's Digest Family Guide to Natural Medicine, and he is consistently quoted in the leading national media.
In addition to his own writing, Ullman's company, Homeopathic Educational Services, has published over 30 homeopathic books including many leading texts for consumers and professional homeopaths.
Dana Ullman serves on the Advisory Council of the Alternative Medicine Center at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons and is a consultant to Harvard Medical School's Center to Assess Alternative Therapy for Chronic Illness. She is a regular speaker at universities, medical schools, pharmacy schools, and hospitals. Some of the schools he has appeared at include U.C.S.F. School of Medicine, Stanford School of Medicine, Duke Medical School, U.C. Berkeley, New York University, and University of Illinois.

Needed reading for natural medicine moms

I used this book while my children were growing up (in the 90's) and still find it useful for my grandchildren's care. But I am French, and in France homeopathy has its place in every pharmacy, is reimbursed by Social Security as the wisest way to stay healthy. See it as preventive medicine, with no over dosage, no side effect, safe for kids and animals. A sure investment.

I absolutely love this book. I have dabbled with some homeopathic remedies in the past, as directed by a homeopath. I have found this book invaluable for helping treat our whole family for mild issues such as sleeplessness, vomiting, bites, jetlag and teething. The advice is excellent and I couldn't be without it. I recommend this to everyone!
