Siegmund Klein was born in Germany, but his family moved only a year later to Ohio. He started training at the age of 17, when he bought his first set of real weights and soon it became clear he was interested in odd objects lifting, posing and other disciplines, aside from weight lifting. Since he was a big fan of Professor Louis Attila, who invented the bent press, he asked his wife to take over his gym after Louis died. Moreover, Sig married their daughter and soon started his own gym which became famous world wide.
Sig Klein covered many magazines, such as Vim Magazine, LaCulture Physique, Iron Man and others, but soon he decided to publish his own magazine "The Klein's Bell" which merged with "Strongman Magazine" after year and a half of great success. The Klein's Bell was initially free of charge for pupils and friends of Seigmund Klein's Studio of Physical Culture, but in the end anyone could buy it for 5c each or 50c per year. Marvelous Primary Source for 1930's strongmen issues.

Sig Klein's Bell was a flyer / magazine that ran for about 18 months, before it was bought ouy, snf edited by champion strongman and weight lifter Sigmund Klein. This is the complete collection of that magazine, page for page.
This is an amazing record and pictures of many of the strongmen of the 1930's, with comments and editorials by Sig himself. For a glimpse into this period, there is probably no better other record.
I was amazed to find a 2 part article on kettlebells in the US by Sig from that period. There are comments on everything from hints for posing (the less body coverage the better) to workouts to diets. There are many jewels of forgotten history in this collection.
A great piece of history with insights into forgotten lore. A great buy for those interested.

Somewhat difficult to read the font since the original magazine pages have been transferred into this book. It's an okay read and there is some good incite into his gym and the strongmen he knew back in the '30s. I'd buy the book again.
