If you are in a valley right now get this. Or get it anyway so when you do have to walk in a valley for a time. Or get it to help others. A great book. Highly recommend to get this book. :) Great scriptures and insight and I know it will be a blessing and an inspiration. When you read this you will say me too, if you are in a valley or been in one. Psalm 84:6-8 Passing through the Valley of Weeping (Baca), they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with blessings. vs 7 They go from strength to strength [increasing in victorious power];Each of them appears before God in Zion.

Your life is an encouragement to many, especially to my life because I am also called to minister to the sick people and currently in a wilderness season. This book really helped me how to get through and respond in such a way that honors God. God is amazing. I never wanted this book to end because of the incredible anointing of wisdom it possesses. If you want to learn from the best of the best, read Debbi DiMaggio & Adam Betta's new book, The Art of Real Estate. It's an easy-to-read guide that is a must-have for real estate buyers, sellers, consumers and really anyone who wants to learn about how to make money in this market - with style and care! I especially loved their questionnaires, checklists, before and after restoration photos, social media marketing ideas and real estate myth buster tips! I highly recommend this book!

The Art of Real Estate, by Debbi DiMaggio and Adam Betta, covers everything anyone would need to know about buying, selling and even investing in real estate. Whether a first time buyer, seller or a seasoned agent or investor, this book will quickly become your go-to source for all things real estate. It is loaded with tips that I didn't even know should be a concern! There is no question both buying and selling real estate are incredibly stressful. This book made the process manageable and taught me what to really expect. I am completely grateful.

Black Lesbian Families

Black lesbians are triple minorities and they may face things that white lesbians, Black gay men, or straight people of any race may not. In this study, the author posits that most studies of lesbian families focus on middle-class white lesbians and posits that maybe families of color may be different. Thus, she contrasts the subject families to straight couple-headed families and white lesbian-headed ones.
This book has a certain Afrocentricity that I like. For the most part, the lesbians here are Black women who love Black women and who intensely want their Black children to be active members in the Black community. There's no "post-racial" or "non-racial" nothing here. In fact, while the women here may question sexual orientation labels, they are resolute that they are Black and they are women. The thing is: the women studied here are New Yorkers. NYC has enough Black gay men and lesbians that they can afford to stick with their own. Black gay people who live in places where they may see no other face like their own in gay social circles might not relate to this.
I can almost put identity issues to the side to bring up one important feature of this book. THIS WAS A WEEEEELLL-FUNDED STUDY!!!! Plenty of studies of gay people are catch-as-catch-can. They use snowball techniques. The samples are never more than 20 or so. This interviewer spoke with about 60 subjects. She teaches on the West Coast, but has the funds to do work on the East Coast. She had graduate students assisting her, etc. Rarely do you see a study of gay people, maybe especially gay women, with this much financial backing for it! But please remember this is an academic book. I could not just hand this to lesbian everyday readers. I mean it's not as heavy and complicated as Judith Butler, but it's not a walk in the park like "This Bridge Called My Back" or "Sister Outsider." That's great in a way because this sociologist's study can stand up to any of her straight, white, male peers. It's written like many a sociology text, but some people never went to college and this may be a bit too high-level for them.
In lost of middle-class lesbian circles, heterogender couples are frowned upon. But let's face, in many a lesbian couple, one partner is markedly more feminine than the other. Although the term "butch-femme" rarely comes up, that dynamic is presented a lot. The author prefers the term "less feminine" over "butch." She also avoids dichotomies and uses a middle term "gender blender." Still, in this study of life that is real-world rather than utopic, interviewees admitted that if they liked one type of woman, they knew the only way to get with her was to have the opposite gender expression of hers. I flipped through the bibliography and may have seen selections from "The Persistent Desire: A Butch-Femme Reader" often. If you hate butch-femme, then this book won't be for your test. However, if you just love you some butch-femme, then here it is in droves.
In short, I liked this book. I would recommend for Black lesbians considering parenting, but you may have to be a college-level reader to understand it.

... Stewart's final volume in the Europe trilogy is the best of the lot

There is no surprise that Gaither Stewart's final volume in the Europe trilogy is the best of the lot. His long awaited prose is carefully crafted to evoke a sense of loss and fear that an expatriate or more adequately an "exile" can only experience-- something vividly real in Stewart which hovers over the surface of the book. Stewart is the exile and chooses to defend his literary life with this volume.
His exposure of recent political crimes against humanity and the absolute slash and burn politics of western imperialism across the globe are certainly not incidental. And,WE are actors in this debacle of loss just as Elmer Redway is its catalyst.
All good novels set before the protagonist a choice. Choose the right thing (we hardly even have an idea what that means anymore) or join the herd of jackals and continue to bring humanity down to the Hobbesian level until it disappears (Social Darwinism).
Sartre wrote about WWII and the post-war period as a continual series of choices which will define the future and ourselves. Even if you choose to not choose there is no escape. The reluctance to choose, which gradually brought about the horrors of Nazi Germany and eventually to the strife of the world today is the ultimate choice. Doing the right thing-- making a choice for the good even if it means your life is the message. Enter Edward Snowden and his choices.
In literature, it is the same. The protagonist and antagonist consciously or unconsciously choose a path which leads to either further destruction or a denouement which sustains some semblance of sanity.
In the entirety of this trilogy, I have traveled around the world and back many times. I am Elmer Redway and Nikitin. I have been guided by Stewart and his trilogy
I am sorry this trilogy is over but I have gained much from Stewart and his cast of characters. I CHOOSE to do the right thing.

Gaither Stewart has become one of my favorite authors. He manages to integrate history into his works while fully engaging me. My late husband would be thrilled - I have an aversion to History as a topic; yet love to learn the "why's" of the world.

In this trilogy, while the story is of one man's awakening and adventure, every character is so well developed you feel you are in the moment with real people, not watching a one dimensional film. That is Gaither's true art, I suppose, his writing envelops you into a world - like dreaming in technicolor with surround sound. You are THERE.

The political commentary is strong, without preachiness - just a candid look at the play and the players. One cannot help but have their eyes opened, while their pulse races.

From the 1st page of the 1st book, to the last of this epic finale - I was immersed and in love with the story. I read it in e-form, and had to order the hard copies to have forever.

Time of Exile is the third novel, bringing to an end with a climatic conclusion Gaither Stewart's Europe Trilogy. The first two novels, The Trojan Spy and Lily Pad Roll, form a tandem, leading up to this last novel, perhaps his best to date.
The exciting story line is full of action, and the reader enters into the minds of the various main characters. Coming from different directions and worlds, each character aspires to do the right thing, not only in life, but also for the world as a whole. The poet John Keats, who is buried in Rome's Poet's Cemetery, had similar thoughts. It probably not a coincidence that Stewart has chosen the cemetery as one of the places where action takes place.
The reader will not be disappointed in this last novel of the trilogy.

About the Author
William Pride (Ph.D., Louisiana State University) is a professor of marketing in the Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. In addition to this text, he is co-author of a market-leading Principles of Marketing text. Dr. Pride's research interests include advertising, promotion, and distribution channels, and his research articles have appeared in major professional journals, such as the JOURNAL OF MARKETING, the JOURNAL OF MARKETING RESEARCH, the JOURNAL OF THE ACADEMY OF MARKETING SCIENCE, and the JOURNAL OF ADVERTISING. Dr. Pride is a member of the American Marketing Association, Academy of Marketing Science, Society for Marketing Advances, and the Marketing Management Association. He has received the Marketing Fellow Award from the Society of Marketing Advances and the Marketing Innovation Award from the Marketing Management Association. Both of these are lifetime achievement awards.

Robert J. Hughes (PhD, University of North Texas) specializes in business administration and college instruction. He has taught Introduction to Business for more than 35 years both on campus and online for Richland College, one of seven campuses that is part of the Dallas County Community College District. In addition to BUSINESS and FOUNDATIONS OF BUSINESS, published by Cengage Learning, he has authored college textbooks in personal finance and business mathematics; served as a content consultant for two popular national television series, "It's Strictly Business" and "Dollars & Sense: Personal Finance for the 21st Century"; and is the lead author for a business math project utilizing computer-assisted instruction funded by the ALEKS Corporation. He also is active in many academic and professional organizations and has served as a consultant and investment adviser to individuals, businesses, and charitable organizations. Dr. Hughes is the recipient of three different Teaching in Excellence Awards at Richland College. According to Dr. Hughes, after 35 years of teaching Introduction to Business, the course is still exciting: "There's nothing quite like the thrill of seeing students succeed, especially in a course like Introduction to Business, which provides the foundation for not only academic courses, but also life in the real world."

Jack R. Kapoor (EdD, Northern Illinois University) is professor of business and economics in the Business and Technology Division at the College of DuPage, where he has taught Introduction to Business, Marketing, Management, Economics, and Personal Finance since 1969. He previously taught at Illinois Institute of Technology's Stuart School of Management, San Francisco State University's School of World Business, and other colleges. Professor Kapoor was awarded the Business and Services Division's Outstanding Professor Award for 1999-2000. He served as an Assistant National Bank Examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department and as an international trade consultant to Bolting Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Mumbai, India. Dr. Kapoor is known internationally as a coauthor of several textbooks, including FOUNDATIONS OF BUSINESS, 4E (Cengage Learning); has served as a content consultant for the popular national television series "The Business File: An Introduction to Business"; and developed two full-length audio courses in business and personal finance. He has been quoted in many national newspapers and magazines, including USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, the Chicago Sun-Times, Crain's Small Business, the Chicago Tribune, and other publications. Dr. Kapoor has traveled around the world and has studied business practices in capitalist, socialist, and communist countries.

but it looks like a blurry scan of the book and every page ...

The Kindle version is more expensive than the print version. The Kindle rental costs more than the Kindle purchase. Is this supposed to be some crazy lesson in business to the suckers who have to buy this book for school? At least it is a crystal clear version of the book. The publisher lets your rent etext of the book for very cheap, but it looks like a blurry scan of the book and every page is watermarked. It gave me a headache to read it. Spend the extra $30 and buy it here.

Easy to Read and Understand

I'm only a few chapters in so far, but I'm really enjoying the textbook so far. The writing, layout, and real-world examples make it quite easy for me to read and digest. I really like that the jargon is all clearly defined in the margins, because it makes taking notes much more simple. Some of my other textbooks only contain definitions in the very back of the book, requiring me to spend quite a bit more time putting together my notes.
